The Horse You Came In On Saloon located in Fell’s Point, Baltimore is the oldest drinking establishment in Fell’s Point, dating back before the Revolution. In 2013, they were given an opportunity to expand into an adjacent historic building. The expansion would double the size of the saloon as well as trigger of myriad of issues that would need to be addressed to bring the saloon into the 21st century. Studio 343 was engaged to design and navigate through the mechanical, electrical and plumbing updates as well as ensure that all structural and life-safety code retrofits were completed. We were also tasked with ensuring that the 238 year old facades were restored and repaired to historic standards. The historic charm of the saloon remains and because of the much needed updates, the saloon can confidently say they are open for business for the coming years.
