Baltimore Veterinary Clinic

You’ll Never Walk Alone is a 3,100+SF veterinary clinic now located in Baltimore’s ‘The Can Company’- an industrial-plant-turned-shopping-center built in the early 1900’s. When Studio 343 made our first site visit, we loved the historic brick walls and wood & steel columns. Along with the client we knew we wanted to showcase these as much as possible, while still providing all of the functionality an efficient vet clinic needs. Though we planned to leave parts of the ceiling exposed initially, and had a lot of height to work with in the space, difficulties did arise in the form of a required >70 STC ceiling assembly. We coordinated with the acoustical consultant and the contractor, Spring Contracting, to ensure the proposed assembly design met code and could physically be accomplished in the space.

One of our favorite parts of this project was compiling a finishes presentation. In the front-of-house areas, the client wanted to showcase some fun and distinctive materials with an industrial but modern vibe. For sterilization and safety purposes, the back-of-house exam, treatment, and surgery areas had to be a bit more austere; though we still wanted to maintain continuity between the spaces. The contrast between public vs private zones created a unique opportunity to fulfill all the functional needs of a veterinary clinic while still creating an enjoyable and welcoming environment for staff and clients. We had a great time working on this project and are excited to see YNWA treat their four legged patients in style!
