Family Compound Guest House
An Annapolis couple with grown children living in other regions of the country needed a guest house adjacent to their waterfront home to accommodate extended stays for their kids and grandkids. The couple wanted a home that would be in keeping with the style of their existing home, a stately traditional Annapolis style house. In contrast, their kids and grandkids wanted modern, open plan living with lots of glass facing the waterfront views. RPH Architecture helped the multiple generations come together to find a solution that satisfied everyone involved. The facades of this house facing the street and the parents’ house will be traditional. On the inside, the first floor will have large, informal living spaces with 10’ ceilings that flow freely into each other and out to the property. The waterside of the house will have extensive glass to capture the views.
