This project reconfigured two buildings on a busy street in an historic district into one, complete storage facility. Although the exteriors remained largely intact to respect the local architecture, the interior required creative solutions to make a highly efficient, consistent storage center. Very little was consistent across the two buildings and many parts were cast-in-place concrete. Building Information Modeling (BIM) aided efficiency with drawings and scheduling. In the design, floors between the buildings were aligned with ramps, new elevators and stairs were installed, modifications brought the building up to code and a new loading area was added. The project met LEED Silver certification when complete and it fits seamlessly into its urban neighborhood.
