Heroic Historic Restoration

Annapolis, MD

Built in 1895, this home in the historic district suffered from structural damage and previous renovations that destroyed its floor plan before landing with benefactors who returned it to its original glory. The renovation restored the four-room layout and rebuilt the historically accurate entry and stair. All architectural details, from trim to hand plastered walls, were replicated in the late 19th century style, effort that often required trips to auctions and architectural salvage to find the correct piece, like the period-perfect newel post. A small addition blends with the existing structure and provides much-needed square footage for modern family living.
